Success comes in many forms. Ralph Waldo Emerson once described achieving success in these words:
“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—this is to have succeeded.”
Together Tulsa believes in and acts upon these same principles. We seek especially to find the best in our students, utilize the best in our community and to leave the world a bit better by offering kids a way out of poverty.
Together Tulsa is built to succeed through solidarity and community. No one can make great changes on his or her own.
With these truths relayed, here’s my call to action:
To all Tulsans who know that progress can (and should) be made to unite our community;
To all mothers and fathers who desperately want their children to grow up with the same opportunities as children living miles down the road;
To all teachers who rise every morning to educate and uplift our youth in environments where their plight is rarely recognized or supported;
To all young people—we hear you! And we are here for you. We’re here to come together—for Tulsa—and for you. And we want you to know with all your heart that you deserve a bright future with endless opportunities.
Today—right now—take the first step. Join the movement to change the trajectory of kids’ lives, promote pride, and unify everyone in our city.
To know that even one child has breathed easier because Together Tulsa existed—this is to have succeeded.
Tulsa is made of the best hearted people—take the goodness in your heart and use it. There are so many kids that deserve your commitment, support and love.
Thank you for being the change you want to see in Tulsa!
